- Bridge
is a voluntary organisation, Registered Charity and a Limited Company by Guarantee.
- Bridge
aims to access women into education & training and offers opportunities to
women in Washington and within the City of Sunderland as well as the North Durham and Chester-le-Street area.
- Bridge
uses 'outreach' methods to recruit women, targeting nurseries, shops, post
offices and schools to encourage women's participation.
- Bridge
removes barriers by running courses in women friendly hours in school terms
only.
- Bridge
takes its provision into the heart of the community into Community Centres,
Local Schools, Children's Centres and the City of Sunderland College campuses.
- Bridge
offers various other activities to promote social and cultural development,
including: drama, opera, dance workshops and cultural exchanges.

is developing a wide ranging health programme, offering guidance and information
through workshops, training sessions, events, activities and awareness raising
projects.

was awarded the Training Organisation of the Year Award 1997 by Wearside NVQ
Services.

was awarded an Honorary Fellowship in 1999 by the University of Sunderland.
- 107FM The Bridge was created in 2000 in partnership with the University of Sunderland to celebrate International Women's Week.
- In 2003 our 'In Reach' programme in the Harding Ward of Durham County Hospital was one of the final 3 contenders for the National Community Care Awards.
- In 2004 Bridge was awarded the 'Investors In People' standard.
- In 2005 our long and very productive relationship with the City of Sunderland College was acknowledged when they awarded us their very first 'Associate College ' status.
- In 2006 Bridge was a finalist in the LSC's Regional Awards in the 'Working In The Community' category.
- Bridge
works with and supports 800 - 900 women per week.
- Bridge
strives to maintain its grass roots origins. It has an active Board of 20
volunteer Directors, most of whom
have been users of the Project.

welcomes all women, it has an age range of 16 to 80+ and a dynamic young women's
group catering for girls aged 13 - 16 years.
- Bridge
acknowledges women's achievements through social celebrations e.g. certificate
presentation events, International Women's Week activities and fundraising events etc.
